The Birthday Party Where the Entertainment Was Being Created Live

What happens when 35 kids, five soccer teams, a tournament and 35 personalised soccer balls come together?

You get a birthday party that nobody forgets.

Recently, we had the absolute pleasure of being part of Ari's 10th birthday celebration — and this wasn't your usual birthday party entertainment.

Ari's mum brought us in to be the live action, entertainment and wow factor while the party unfolded around us.

And wow… did it work.

Welcome to the Merch Store

The party kicked off with 35 kids being divided into five teams: Brazil, Australia, Portugal, France and Italy.

Every child was picked out of a hat and placed into their team.

Then came the transformation.

The kids headed to the merch store where they could choose their team kit — shorts, T-shirt, headband and socks — before getting changed and getting ready for the tournament.

But there was one more thing waiting for them.

Their very own soccer ball.

And not just any soccer ball.

A ball they got to design themselves.

Each child chose their own design, colours and font. They had an idea in their head of what they wanted their ball to look like — and then they handed it over to us.

Our job was to bring that idea to life.

Live.

Right there at the party.

And Then the Tournament Began

Once the teams were ready, the soccer tournament got underway.

There were matches, finals, play-offs, cheering, competition, water breaks, food, birthday cake and all the excitement you'd expect from a group of 10-year-olds competing to take home the trophy.

And while all of that was happening…

We were painting.

35 soccer balls.

One by one.

Personalised for each child.

The really cool thing was that the kids didn't just disappear off to play soccer and forget about us.

They kept coming back.

They'd stop by between games.

They'd watch us work.

They'd ask questions.

"How do you make that?"

"Is that mine?"

"Are you up to mine yet?"

"Can I see it?"

Some kids came back 10 times throughout the day just to check on their ball.

And honestly, that was one of our favourite parts.

Because they weren't just waiting for a finished product.

They were watching their idea become real.

"But I Didn't Bring Any Money…"

There was another moment throughout the day that really stayed with us.

A few of the kids genuinely thought they were going to have to pay for their soccer ball.

One child said to us:

"I'm sorry I didn't bring money to pay for the ball."

Parents were asking us too:

"How much do I have to pay for this?"

And our answer was simple:

"It's all been taken care of by Ari's mum."

You could see the reaction immediately.

There was this genuine sense of appreciation — from both the kids and the parents — because they suddenly realised just how much thought had gone into the experience.

These kids weren't just receiving a soccer ball.

Their mum had organised for them to choose their own design, their own colours, their own font and then have an artist paint it specifically for them, live at their birthday party.

And at the end of the day, they were taking it home.

That meant something.

It was a gift they had been part of creating.

And for the parents, I think there was also a moment of realising just how generous and thoughtful the whole experience was.

It was one of those little moments that reminded us that sometimes the biggest impact of what we do isn't the artwork itself.

It's how people feel when they receive it.

The Parents Were Just as Amazed

The kids weren't the only ones fascinated by what was happening.

Throughout the day, we had parents stopping to watch, ask questions and take photos.

And we kept hearing variations of the same thing:

"How did Ari's mum find you?"

"I've never seen this at a birthday party before."

"This is so cool."

And that reaction never gets old.

We've been doing what we do for more than 20 years, and even after all that time, we still meet people every day who have never seen live custom graffiti art being created right in front of them.

That's something we love about what we do.

There's something about seeing an artist create something from scratch, right in front of you, that a finished product simply can't replicate.

You get to see the process.

You get to ask questions.

You get to watch the colours come together.

And you get to experience that moment when something that existed only as an idea suddenly becomes yours.

The Best Part Was Saved Until the End

As the tournament came to a close, the winning team was announced.

There were trophies.

There was a podium.

There were cheers.

There was birthday cake.

There was food and plenty of excitement.

And then came the moment we'd been working towards all day.

The kids got their soccer balls.

After spending the entire day watching us paint them, they finally got to hold their finished, personalised ball.
