How the Markets Led Us to Singapore to Paint a Record-Breaking Cap

A few years ago, something happened that still feels unreal when we think about it.

While working at the Surfers Paradise markets, we started chatting with a group of organisers visiting from Singapore.

At the time, it just felt like a normal conversation — the kind you have with people all the time at the markets.

They watched us paint, asked questions about what we do, and loved the idea of custom airbrushed hats.

Then the conversation took a turn we never expected.

A few weeks later…

We were invited to fly to Singapore to help create and paint the world’s largest custom cap for the Singapore Guinness Book of Records.

All expenses paid.

✈️ From the Markets to Singapore

It’s funny looking back now because none of it felt planned.

One minute we were painting hats at our regular market stall…

The next, two of our artists were boarding a plane to Singapore with airbrush gear packed and ready to go.

It was one of those moments where you realise you never really know where creativity — or a simple conversation — can lead.

🎨 Painting the World’s Largest Custom Cap

When we arrived in Singapore, the scale of the project was incredible.

The cap was HUGE.

Seeing something we usually paint by hand on a normal-sized hat transformed into a giant record-breaking piece was surreal.

Over the course of the event, we worked on painting and bringing the cap to life while crowds gathered to watch the process.

And even now, the cap still remains in the Singapore Book of Records today.

That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

💃 Painting Live at Breakin’ Boundaries

At the same time, there was also a major breakdance competition happening at OneKM Mall called Breakin’ Boundaries.

We spent five days at the event painting custom hats live while dancers, performers, and crowds moved through the space.

The whole atmosphere was creative, energetic, and completely different from anything we’d experienced before.

Music, dancing, live art, and people from all different backgrounds all coming together in one place.

It reminded us how universal creativity really is.

No matter where you are in the world, people connect with art.

Being able to paint live in that environment — while representing our little business from the Gold Coast — was something we’ll never forget.

🌏 Experiencing Singapore

One of the best parts of the trip was getting to experience Singapore itself.

The culture, food, energy, and people made the whole experience unforgettable.

As artists, being able to travel overseas and do what we love at the same time was something really special.

It never felt like “work.”

It felt like an adventure that came from simply backing ourselves and saying yes to opportunities.

💙 It All Started at the Markets

What makes this story even crazier to us…

is that it all started from a conversation at the Surfers Paradise markets.

That’s something we think about often.

The markets have introduced us to so many incredible people and opportunities over the years.

And this was one of those moments that reminded us:
you never really know who’s walking past your stall.

🎨 More Than Just Hats

Looking back now, the experience was never really just about painting a giant cap.

It was about:

  • creativity opening doors

  • meeting people from around the world

  • stepping outside our comfort zone

  • and creating unforgettable memories through art

That’s one of the things we love most about what we do.

Every project starts with a conversation…
and sometimes those conversations lead somewhere incredible.

✨ Final Thoughts

From painting hats at the markets…
to flying overseas and working on a record-breaking project…

it’s been a pretty amazing journey.

And it all started with doing what we love 💙
